Webinar | The Hidden Element: Water's Vital Role in Economic Recovery

September 17, 2020 - 11:30am to 1:00pm

COVID-19 has highlighted—and accelerated—several long-standing problems plaguing our nation’s infrastructure, including governance, investment, and technological challenges. However, infrastructure does not have to be a hurdle; it can power our recovery. Within the infrastructure discussion, water is one of the most overlooked systems nationally, even as it has remained vital to our public health, environment and economy. This webinar will explore the frequently hidden—but foundational—role our water infrastructure can play in a COVID-19 recovery.

Thank you for joining the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment on September 17 for a webinar featuring experts from Stanford, the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program, and the Water Foundation. This moderated conversationexplored national strategies that can both improve our water infrastructure and promote a stronger economic recovery. Topics included policy objectives, funding and financing considerations, and people-centered issues around access and affordability, along with other areas of interest identified by event attendees.
