About this Event

The global energy transition is an urgent imperative all while climate impacts intensify. This requires effective multilateral action, yet global governance continues to face a series of shocks, from the pandemic to rising geopolitical tensions. These have ultimately highlighted the resilience of the Paris Agreement, but also the need to critically assess the "regime complex" of multilateral climate action: how can we enhance action under existing multilateral treaties? What new governance tools do we need? And how do we move faster while adjusting to the new reality of Loss & Damage liabilities? A new consensus on clean energy, human security and the need for revising the international financial architecture is emerging. This lecture will consider the current context and some paths forward.
