The Stanford Woods Institute works to bring Stanford’s singular strengths to bear on solving ocean challenges ranging from climate change, overfishing, coastal development, pollution and plastics. Through the Center for Ocean Solutions, Stanford researchers are catalyzing research innovation and action to improve the health of the oceans for the people who depend on them most. COS co-directors Fiorenza Micheli and Jim Leape are leveraging the expertise of Stanford’s seven schools to address the urgent challenge of sustaining ocean health in the face of a rapidly changing climate and, in particular, to harness innovations of the “data revolution” to help the world meet those challenges.
