Jayson Toweh is an E-IPER (Emmett Interdisciplinary Program in Environment and Resources) Ph.D. student focusing on identifying climate change's health, environmental and social impacts and creating co-benefits from developing sustainable energy transition. He is an EDGE Fellow and a Graduate Public Service Fellow.

At Stanford, Jayson has worked on identifying the impacts that severe weather-caused power outages have on human health. He has served as a mentor for Polygence, guiding high school students on environmental research projects. He was a Schneider Fellow at the United Nations Foundation where he worked on researching and identifying the use of Indigenous Knowledge in climate science and opportunities to increase it. He is now working at The World Bank, exploring opportunities for infrastructure improvement and investments to reduce climate change's effects on health and the healthcare sector. Recently, Jayson has become a fellow at the non-profit Second Nature, where he is working on projects related to the America is All In initiative, specifically regarding how universities can provide meaningful cross-sectoral engagement through climate commitments.

Jayson completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan's Program in the Environment. At Michigan, Jayson served as the president of Students for Clean Energy, working to increase renewable energy generation on campus. He also served as the student government chair for the Sustainability Commission, working on campus sustainability. He completed his master's degree in environmental health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His thesis focused on evaluating and mapping emission changes after installing scrubbers in coal power plants. At Harvard, he was part of the Climate Leaders Program and the Council for Student Sustainability Leaders. Jayson also served on the public health student government as the vice-president for communication and finance and the university-wide student government as vice-chair for social engagement.

Before Stanford, Jayson worked as a management and program analyst at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Office of Inspector General. He evaluated EPA's water programs and made recommendations for improvement. At the EPA, he worked on projects related to how Hurricane Maria and Irma impacted water systems in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Additionally, he worked on drinking water access on tribal land, lead in drinking water, discharge facility permits and managing harmful algal blooms. In 2020, Jayson was elected and served on the Harvard Board of Overseers, the university's governing board.
