David is a graduate student at Stanford Law School. His research focuses on environmental and natural resources law and policy in domestic and international spheres. His current research explores legal dimensions of Canada-US cooperation on climate change and clean energy with a view to reducing legal risks for both countries. Additionally, he is researching the emerging concept of Environmental Rule of Law as part of course work in conjunction with the Stanford Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.

Originally from the east coast of Canada, Davids most recent role prior to arriving at Stanford was with Canada's Environment Commissioner where he focused on climate change, offshore oil & gas, pipelines and environmental assessment. His previous work has included roles with the United Nations Development Programme in the Maldives, the Government of Nunavut in Canada's Arctic, the law firm of Stewart McKelvey in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and the Marine and Environmental Law Institute at Dalhousie University. He holds an undergraduate degree from Acadia University, a JD from Schulich School of Law, and an MA in International Development from Dalhousie University, where he received several awards upon graduation.
