Energy Research & Development plays a critical role in advancing new fuel sources, technologies and ways to use energy more efficiently. Basic research drives innovation in the public and private sectors and makes valuable contributions to a new clean energy economy. On January 10, Stanford University’s leading energy and environmental research institutes, the Stanford Precourt Institute for Energy and the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment, convened a panel session that highlighted clean energy innovation as a crucial component of efforts to combat climate change and asked how the United States can lead global efforts to develop and deploy advanced energy technologies.
